It seems so unfair to the poor people of Moore, Shawnee and Newcastle that the weather continues to be horrible pouring with rain and thundering while they are trying to clean up and salvage. Anything that might have had a chance to be saved will probably be ruined by now.

Continuing to keep them in our prayers and for better weather. Mother nature needs to give it a rest, Oklahoma has suffered enough!
Yesterday @ 5:17 pm by janell
Mother nature can be cruel indeed.

There was a programme on tv here last night about the tornado, it was heartbreaking! Some of the stories were awful. All the people pulled together and helped one another along which was warming.

Great news!! Crutches are gone, pain in my foot was NOT from the fracture (which to find out was an old injury), it's plantar fasciitis and can take up to 11 mos to heal. Mark got a call he has been offered the job back with county Parks & Rec. It's a $400 month pay cut but worth every penny. So happy right now!

I was also cleared for low impact cardio! Mark didn't hear anything back from the other job he applied for, then the parks one opened up and they begged him ot come back. So this week has ended on a sweet note!
Yesterday @ 10:52 am by janell
I am happy to hear your good news. Now for the plantar fascitis, I have that and it is painful. Take a tennis ball and every morning roll your foot over the ball. It helps the reconective tissue to re-connect. I also take collegen pills every day. We do not realize it becaus they always tell us calicum calicum, but they fail to tell us our bones, skin, muscles, hair and nails all need collegen. We lose collegen as we age (think of everything droopy). It is wonderful for our reconnective tissue.
Yesterday @ 11:25 am by kathredtiaraprincess
Thank you for the info Katharine and I didn't think about the collegen, I'll pick some up next trip out. They offered me the cortisone shot this morning but I said no. They told me if I felt I needed it all I needed to do was call.
Yesterday @ 11:46 am by janell
Always wonderful to hear good news!!!
Yesterday @ 12:03 pm by cakeswithcharacter
Janell I had a corisone shot between my toes for a neroma tumor and I about came up off the table when they put it in. I take pain really really well but that was a doozy!! Plus...it never helped.

Hi all. Well...sunshine again this morning. Cooler temps and hopefully it won't rain all thru the weekend. They keep changing their minds on that it seems. I keep worrying about the baby robbins getting knocked out of the nest. I think any day now they will be flying away.

BTW when you hand paint modeling chocolate do you use gel colors with lemon extract or lemon juice? I know it's hard to get a really clean, smooth finish with just regular petal dusts, etc. I'm not nearly ready to start painting yet but will need to know when I do. Have a great day all!
Yesterday @ 8:14 am by Sally Hackney
Morning Sally, powder color and coco butter works the best.
Yesterday @ 10:29 am by kathredtiaraprincess
Happy to hear you have some sunshine Sally!
Yesterday @ 10:45 am by janell
Morning Sally! We had rain this morning, now sun, but the winds are picking up and its getting a bit grey out!
Yesterday @ 12:04 pm by cakeswithcharacter
Kath where do I buy cocoa butter that isn't already colored? I saw the colored ones at GSA but they weren't the colors I needed. I didn't realize I could add dust to them. I'll go back and see if they have white and I can then get the dust colors I need. Do you use just regular petal dust???
Yesterday @ 12:42 pm by Sally Hackney
Liz Marek mentioned once you could use regular veg oil and powders or luster dust to paint modeling chocolate. Maybe experiment on a piece and see how it works?
Yesterday @ 12:58 pm by cakesbycarla
Sally I use lemon extract or vodak with my petal dust, if it seems to runny give a minute and it will thicken up for you . Not sure how it will work on chocolate , haven't done that yet.

Trying. Trying to get help where I can and doing as much prep as I can. Just really frustrated that some people can leave things for the last minute, so selfish that they are the only order and that I don't have other things going on!!

Well, maybe all my good stress is catching up with me. I came down with some crud on Friday night and still fighting it. The sinus infection/coughing combo type. Feeling some better today but still tired and I have so much to pack and do around here. Going to take some cold medicine and drink some coffee. Have a good day folks!

Morning Carla, sorry your not your normal self. Use a nedi pot , it works very well for the sinus. I will send you some espresso with a big hug to make you feel better. Remember one box at a time.

Oh Carla...I'm so sorry. What a time to feel awful. It's probably the weather messing with you. Take care my friend.

Good Morning Cake Junkies, I hit the ground running. Max was not himself this morning, Mike is home doing a few things around the house and keeping an eye on Max. I think all the hammering, walls coming down and the list goes on is taking a toll on his quiet life. I think we have a few days to go before I can do a deep cleaning. So far I am happy with the remodel. I can't wait to see how the tiles look in this bathroom.

Oh I hope Max is okay. Believe me I understand the worry associated with a sick pup. I'm sure the upheaval hasn't helped but keep a close eye. They can go down hill so quickly. Good thoughts!!! I know the remodel is going to be awesome!!

Morning my friends. Starting out gorgeous here but will turn to rain later today. A few storms passed by yesterday (remnants of the tornado storm) but they weren't severe. Now they're saying we may have rain all the way thru Memorial day. Swell. Hope you all have a great day!! Take care.

They had us under all kinds of alerts yesterday (unusual for us) and we ended up with a few light showers. Not complaining, but the worry was nerve racking to say the least. Hope you get some sunshine in there. Have a good day!
Wednesday @ 8:27 am by janell
Morning Sally, we have light showers here also. I hate to day it, but we really need the rain.
Wednesday @ 9:31 am by kathredtiaraprincess
We were in severe thunderstorm warning and tornado watch for a few hours last night. Luckily it was just a half hour without power and that's all the trouble we got from it. Hope you have a good day Sally - try not to let it get you down.

Another sad day. Seems like every week something devastating happens and we are all saddened by what has happened. So very sorry for the loss of life and devastation from the tornado. I know all our prayers and thoughts are with those folks on this sad morning.

On a lighter note. For those of you who loved "Frozen Planet"....either record or watch the new series "North America". The photography is amazing and the entire thing is fascinating.

The news just breaks my heart Sally and my nerves are shot. I have family in Moore, OKC, and broken arrow as well as friends in the surrounding areas. I've read notes that they are all alright, thankfully. Prayers to all those who have lost loved ones, looking for their loved ones, and for those who are still in that monsters path.
Tuesday @ 8:06 am by janell
It is so sad, I just keep saying prayers for them. I guess living in the upper mid-west, I don't understand how these homes do not have basements. I know many of the homes have the storm shelters but they have to leave their homes to get to them. Is there a reason for not having a basement?
Tuesday @ 10:54 am by kathredtiaraprincess
It's super sad; I just wish there was more that could be done to prevent these disasters.
Tuesday @ 2:06 pm by Justin Lynch
Kath it's because they have so much rock base. It's the same in Texas....basements are unheard of because it would cost a fortune to try to dig thru the rock to make the basement.

Good Morning Cake Junkies, it is a beautiful morning here, we are expecting some storms, but nothing major. We are all praying for friend/families affected by the tornados in the past two day. I saw there are many ways to help thru valid donation sites. We need caution when wanting to help as there are many crewel people who will set up scams to steal from you as you are acting on emotion. If you decide to donate $ go to the American Red Cross and other sites set-up thru your local news stations as they wi

Morning all! Happy Monday and I pray all our friends out there are safe this morning after all the storms. Happy to report Sissy is getting better day by day. My vet called a specialist this morning as we were having some issues with the meds. He told us what to do so I am feeling much better about it all.

Oh and I got the stuff in for my OSSAS project. I just keep looking at it and saying..."Am I really capable of doing this?" I figure I need to let Sissy get back on level ground before I start as I will need to be really focused.

Good Morning Cake Junkies, it is a new day and I have a bathroom wall with multiple colors (one is too pinkish, yellowish, orangish). I am so glad Behr has samples. I never thought I would ever go with blue in my bathroom, but I found this greyish blue that might work. I have been painting a piece of drywall in the garage also to see how the colors will look with the tiles. Somehow that blue screams pick me. Remember to smile it makes us happy.

Our powder room would be complete had I not wanted the door moved at the last minute. I spent the last two evenings spackling the door way (it is a good thing I am a cake lady as the spackle is pretty smooth so far). The walls I painted will need some touch up as will the little alcove we just closed in. That will happen after we have the closet door changed out today. The travertien (sp) sink will need to be treated as will the floor tiles when I finish but it is looking good for a small space.
Monday @ 8:55 am by kathredtiaraprincess
Oh Kath...I have to chuckle every time I read your post. If there were ever two peas in a pod it is you and I. You fret over decorating stuff just like I do...you love dogs ...you are a cake fanatic....the list just goes on and on. I'm so glad you're my friend!!
Monday @ 9:20 am by Sally Hackney
Samples are a huge help. Very often the paint card held up to your wall doesn't really give you a good idea of how the light will play on your paint in that particular room's environment. And painting on the scrap of drywall is good too - you can paint a swatch and hold it up in there and bring it around to other things to match - brilliant!
Monday @ 9:43 am by cakesbycarla
Please post a picture when you're done, I like the sound of that blue.
Monday @ 10:19 am by janell
